Welcome to "First Rank - FIRE!"

"First Rank - Fire!" is the chronicle of two long-time hobbyist and their quest to budget their time and money in order to participate in the in the hobby of tabletop wargaming. The focus of this blog is the step-by-step completion of two similar Imperial Guard armies based around a well developed theme that defines a part of the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. Adept's Praetorian models will be the foundation of his 453rd Pelean Regiment while my Mordians transform into an Imperial Navy Drop Zone Assault Group. We hope to demonstrate how a strongly developed background can be evolved and an original, visually stunning and playable 40K army.


For those of you who aren't Imperial Guard fans Adept and I will occasionally post pictures of models from our other 40K armies as well as Warhammer and Lord/War of the Rings. To take it even further - for those out there that want to see some historical models we will also post pictures from, Flames of War, Legends of the High Seas, American Civil War and samurai collections.

We hope you like our blog. We know your support and enthusiasm will keep us motivated to complete our armies and continue to grow in the hobby (In spite of our hectic schedules).

Table Update - Skull Pits to Swamp


 
This is the large swamp area.  The dark green flock represents the boundary of the difficult terrain created by the swamp.  The trail through the middle can be designated as a ford site.

 
This is a picture of the smaller swamp area. 

  

Here is the project so far.  I have some more flocking to do and some more details on the cliffs.
The next step-by-step Hobby How-To! - SWAMPS should be ready next week.
